THE Walvis Bay Traffic Department has boosted its fleet of motorcars, after they took delivery of five brand new pricey, Ford Focus ST3 models recently, which has become the official choice of law enforcement vehicle at the harbour town.
The sporty 2-litre four-door hatch back, is the popular tried and tested motor car of the department, which purchased their first iconic Ford Focus back in 2012, bringing the total of 15 Ford vehicles running in their fleet.
The eye-catching third generation turbo charged 2.0L ST3 is an upgrade from the previous model, and is powered by an Eco-Boost engine, offering power, comfort, performance and handling.
It has a list of specifications too many to mention, but the ST3’s ability to travel at high speed supported by a host of safety features is a plus point in its favour.
Safety features and power are top of the list for the Traffic Department, whose duties include assisting in high speed chases whilst on the crime beat, attending swiftly to response duties, keeping up with high speed motorcades, road blocks, plus providing official VIP police escorts. Sales Executive at Novel Ford, Walvis Bay, Christo Van Wyk secured the deal after building a trusted relationship with the Traffic Department over the years, and understands their needs. He said that the dealership was awarded the tender for supplying five new Focus ST3 vehicles, each one costing around N$560 000 which included the fitted extras.
“The Focus ST3, is a high-end motor car with loads of specs for luxurious driving pleasure such as sunroof, leather trim, rear view camera sensors for parking, top safety features including seven airbags, to mention some,” he pointed out. The vehicles were delivered with fitted extras on request, such as strobe lights, onboard cameras, a siren system, a stripe on each side together with the Municipal traffic logo branding on the bonnet and both doors.
“The Traffic Department have made an excellent choice by bringing the third generation Focus into their fleet, as this car is in a league of its own in this market segment, and hard to beat,” continued Van Wyk.
He also said that the department’s intention is to phase out the older models with this new addition, since their vehicles work really hard and the latest technology will be a welcome change.
“Novel Ford is proud to be of service to the Traffic Department who play such an important role in our society, and the fact that they have chosen the Ford Focus ST3 as their official vehicle is a feather in our cap,” Van Wyk concluded.
