THE popular Suzuki range of vehicles is on a winning streak, with more excitement to come as everyone holds their breath for the arrival of the highly anticipated all-new super cute Jimny 4×4. With the official launch of this compact SUV being scheduled for November in South Africa, the Jimny 4×4 is expected to land in Namibia shortly after the launch in South Africa. The owner of the Suzuki Namibia franchise, Freddy Oosthuizen, is “counting the days” for the unveiling of the new SUV. “We can’t wait for the new Jimny to arrive,” he exclaimed.”The vehicle is going to surprise everyone with its new styling inside and out, vibrant colour scheme, brand new design, upgraded 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine plus a high/ low transfer gear ratio selector making the Jimny one of the most capable 4×4’s out there,” Oostuizen said with excitement. He said that the 2019 Suzuki Jimny, which resembles a miniature retro G-Wagen, offers true off-road capability in either a five-speed manual gearbox or four-speed automatic transmission. It is a winning formula at a fraction of price, going for N$275 900 for the base models, to the top of the range 1.5i GLX automatic trasmission at N$329 900. “The interest in the new Jimny is astounding and even before the launch, we have about 66 people waiting for a test drive, plus over a dozen offer to purchase documents (OTP) signed by customers who haven’t even driven it yet,” Oosthuizen told the Confidente this week. Oosthuizen, who was on a recent trip to Suzuki Swakopmund branch, also dropped some good news about them moving to bigger premises to offer a more modern and spacious showroom with parts and service department. The Suzuki Franchise has its Windhoek showroom situated in Hosea Kotako Avenue, which trades under Autoworld Trade Centre. In addition, Oosthuizen said has just signed a deal with Suzuki Motorcyles SA who approved the motorcycle franchise for their Swakopmund branch this week. “We are busy with the first motorcycle orders which should arrive in the next two weeks,” he confirmed. “I am proud to say that Suzuki has been ranked as one of the most reliable vehicles in the world and has managed to achieve impressive market share growth over the past 12 months despite the economic crunch, “ he claimed. Meanwhile Suzuki Namibia is riding on their award winning range of vehicles after the Japanese car maker scooped the most coveted title of ‘2018 Brand of the Year’, for the second consecutive year at the Wesbank Cars.co.za Consumer Awards. Suzuki also took the ‘Best Compact Family Car’ category with their sizzling 1.6 GL Vitara. The Vitara also won the title two years in a row beating a string of rivals such as the Nissan Qashqai 1.2 Visia. The compact Suzuki Ignis 5-door hatch and newcomer to the stable did not take the back seat after making a huge splash when it was launched last year to win the 2018 ‘Budget Car of the Year’. The sassy looking Ignis followed in the footsteps of last year’s Budget Car of the Year win, which was the Suzuki Celerio 1.0 GL. The brag factor on all three models has ranked Suzuki fourth out of 32 manufacturers in the latest reliability survey, with cars in 13 categories tested and voted on. The coveted ‘Brand of the Year’ award was based on votes by consumers who actually drove the Suzuki and “loved the car”.
