THE Dome in Swakopmund raised over N$36,115 in aid of the Cancer Association of Namibia (CAN) during this year’s Ladies Night held on September 28 inside The Dome’s Conference Centre.
For the second time since inception in 2017, the Dome Swakopmund hotel hosted the Ladies Night fundraising, which aims to support the work of CAN and assist the association with its day to day activities.
Public relations officer for The Dome Arne Putensen stated that the money was raised through ticket sales, with the other chunk coming from two auctions of goodie hampers, a collection from all attendees, as well as the proceeds generated by the Namibia Wine Merchants on the night.
While thanking all who attended and contributed, Putensen further said that this year the show exceeded all their expectations with the generous donations of the guests and sponsors adding that the show was sold out ahead of time.
After handing over the proceeds to Celesté Steyn from the Swakopmund branch of CAN on Monday, plans for a 2019 Ladies Night have been approved and planning will commence soon.
“We are extremely happy with the turn-out and the money we were able to raise for the Cancer Association. The planning and execution were spot-on, and we’d like to thank everyone who was involved, especially those who made generous donations. We will continue hosting these kinds of events, to assist those in need”, said Putensen.
Headlining this year’s event was South African comedian Craig du Toit Nel, who had the audience in stitches, with tears of laughter rolling with his witty jokes and comments throughout the hour-long performance.
Du Toit Nel’s act was complemented by a variety of entertainment, which included a demonstration by three fitness models, a lip-sync battle and musical chairs that had a special twist to it.
The event was supported by Abenteuer Afrika, Activities Namibia, African Waxed Boxes, Air Namibia, AMH Motors, Corporate Event Gear, Dome Conference Centre, Dr Silvio Suardi Dental Surgeon, Herco Marketing, The Dome Health and Training Centre, La Luna Lingerie, Nakara, Nam Booth, Natura Afrika, Nifty Studios, and Otto Günther.
Other sponsors and contributors included Pole Dance Fitness, Pure Bliss Hair Salon, The Dome Serenity Spa, Star Photography, Swakopmund Hotel and Entertainment Centre, Swakopmund Plaza Hotel, Namibia Wine Merchants, Tea Room, Tokkie’s Travel, Ulla’s Cleaning Services, Curves, Sovereign Hair Salon, Atlantic Bliss, Namibia Wine Merchants, Ilana’s Hair Gallery.
