ERIC Sell, popularly known as EES, is slowly moving up in the world as evidenced by the fact that he was recently invited to perform on the X Factor Germany show. In a Skype interview with One Africa Television earlier this month, Ees said he first got word from the X Factor Germany producers when they sent him an email. “I got an email from X Factor Germany asking me to take part in the live show, but I thought it was spam. But before I deleted it I realised that it was legit and convinced my band to go to the first casting session,” he recalled. Ees said after he and his band auditioned, they left the room feeling confused and uncertain, only to be called back in and told that his music is exactly what they
want on the show. After his first appearance on X Factor Germany, which went viral on Youtube, Ees was voted onto the live X-Factor Germany semi-finals, which saw him perform one of his latest songs,
titled ‘Original’. The German public then had a chance to vote and Ees proceeded to the live X- Factor Germany Finals, only to be crowned the winner. He posted a thank you message on his Facebook account, saying: “A big thank you to everybody who supported and voted for us at X Factor Deutschland, now it’s time to spread the Nam Flava sound to the world.” With 9 albums under his belt in just 10 years, it is obvious that he has ambition and is not about to slow down. His music style is a blend of Kwaito, African
House, Afro Pop, Reggae, and has a funky fresh spin to it. EES discovered his love for music in Cape Town while doing his Diploma in Sound Engineering. At the end of 2003, he’d finished his studies and at the
beginning of 2004 went to Europe to introduce and improve on his music skills while trying to promote African music in Europe. Ever since he has be making a massive impact for Kwaito music outside of Africa and has received several awards of recognition, including the MTV Listeners Choice award. His latest hit album release is the 22-track, “totally African Pop NAM Flava sound” called ‘Authentic Rebel’, featuring a great selection of African artists.
