TWAHAFA Neshuku has made it her mission to pursue her passion for writing and blogging. The 23-year-old media graduate, who runs a blog page on WordPress entitled “Exist With Me, recently spoke to Confidente about her enthusiasm for media and developing her writing skills. We asked what led her to pursue blogging as a means of self-expression. “I fell in love with reading and writing at a very tender age and have always excelled in languages throughout high school, primary school and tertiary. The blog has been long overdue and I’m just thrilled that I’m now able to express myself freely in my own space,” she explained. Twahafa’s webpage is home to a range of inspirational and insightful content that includes motivational articles, book reviews, photographs, personal experiences and social topics. “My page is mostly inspired by life itself and my daily experiences. There is always something to write about. Just recently I wrote a tribute piece for the deceased 9-year-old Cheryl [Ujaha], who was gruesomely murdered in Windhoek.” “This and other articles on my blog received such a great response from my readers and this has inspired me to keep writing. I just want to address social issues through expressive and creative writing, with the hope that someone somewhere gets my message.” Twahafa says the most fulfilling part of what she does is the meaningful interactions derived from it. “My email is always flooded with comments from readers from across the world; and my friends and family never miss a single post.” She also occasionally invites other writers to share their experiences in a segment for guest writers and is always eager to work and share with other intellectuals. Twahafa however stresses the need for young people in Namibia to develop a reading and writing culture as it broadens one’s perspective and stimulates the mind in the most amazing and unimaginable ways. She says it is a challenge to get most young people to read though, because some are lazy and would rather do other things than spend five minutesreading. She describes herself as a bag full of talent and she cannot wait to launch all the projects she’s been working on. “Being a creative, and having studied Television Production I have so much more to offer, but all in due time. For now I’m simply following my passion to see where it leads me.” “I am also at the prime stages of research for my book, but would like to really take my time as I want it to leave a mark both locally and internationally,” she added.
