THE Namibia Arts Fair (NAF) is well on its way to becoming one of the
biggest art platforms in the country, where artists will have the opportunity to sell their art and show their talents. According to co-founder of NAF Ramatoulie Sallah-Muhammed, the goal of the upcoming Arts Fair is to exhibit at least 50 Namibian artists from all the different various artistic disciplines, from performance art to visual art, literature, and even fashion. “The objective of the Namibia Arts Fair
is to facilitate the exhibition and purchase of Namibian art and craft pieces, as well as to create an understanding of the value of artwork for those not familiar with the art scene,” Muhammed said.
The first workshop, which was held on 12 October 2018 at the Theatre School, centred on visual arts, where local artist Antonius Junior focused on teaching those drawn to pencil art how to draw sketches
from basic to fine realistic. The second and third workshop will be on performing arts. The main purpose of the workshops is to fund the main event, the Arts Fair in December. The upcoming workshop is themed ‘Master the Power of Your Voice’ and is set to take place on 30 October from 18h00 to 20h00, presented by Emily Dangwa at the Theatre School. This workshop will focus on helping singers in the industry or upcoming singers to build performance stamina, using the voice in a healthy way with the aid of natural remedies for the voice and the body. The final workshop will take place on 20
November and will be presented by Thomas Mbundu, who will teach participants dancing skills and techniques. Mbundu will focus on teaching people how to dance as well as basics of Hip-hop and Kwaito. The workshop will be at 18h00 at the Theatre School. The workshop series will end with an information session on 10 November 2016 at the Namibia Arts Association Heritage Trust Office near Ausspannplatz. “The goal of the event is to teach the Namibian art community how to create a career from art and live sustainably from your art,” Muhammed said. Tickets for the workshops can be purchased on Events Today.
