One of the stands that added to the uniquely Namibian flavour of the Erongo Expo last week was that of the Erongo Mountain Winery, a boutique winery located about four kilometres from Omaruru. They had 10 superb wines and a number of distinctive liqueurs on display that are all produced in Namibia. The grapes are grown at Omaruru, and although they do import grapes from the Cape in drier seasons, the goal is to use local products. The winery estate, which employs 15-20 people off-season, offers a restaurant and tours, as well as wine-tasting events for the connoisseur and novice.
